Eileen Wong (nee Nicholson) left us peacefully this past Friday, Sept. 11, 2009, at the age 73 years.
Eileen was a beloved mother to daughters, Mayling Read, Sue MacAdam, Cindy Wong and Sharon Wong. ‘Nanny Wong’ leaves behind a legacy of compassion and love, having served as a surrogate mother and grandmother to countless members of an extended family which included not only her own children and grandchildren, but also nieces, nephews, cousins and even neighbourhood children. Her gracious spirit and caring demeanor will be truly missed by all who were fortunate enough to have been witness to her life.
Among her most cherished memories, she often spoke of the special bond she shared with two of her sisters, Alma Genter and Delores Winacott and their respective families.
The family also wishes to extend their deepest and sincerest thanks to Barb Hart. Without the love and support of her best friend, the comfort with which Eileen lived out her final years would not have been possible.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place Tuesday, Sept. 15 at the S.W Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, we respectfully request that donations be made to the IWK Children’s Hospital so that Eileen’s legacy of love for children may continue on in her absence.
