At the Margaret Stewart Ellis Home, O’Leary, on Saturday, Sept. 12, 2009, of R. Melvin Cooke, formerly of Springfield West, aged 78, beloved husband of Edith (nee Poole). Born at Cape Wolfe on June 22, 1931, son of the late Lloyd and Ruth (Durdan) Cooke. Cherished father of Susan Gaudet, Westfield, N.B., and her friend Alvin Nason; and Catherine Cooke (Sterling Carruthers), Summerside. Dear brother of Keith, O’Leary; Ralph (Beryl), Elwood (Shirley), Helen (Verouse) Sentner all of Cape Wolfe; Edith Pickering, Sea View; and Marie (Ivan) Collicutt, Burton. Brother-in-law of Mary Cooke, O’Leary; Doreen MacWilliams, Sackville, N.B.; Jim (Wendy) Poole, Markam, Ont.; and Shirley (Ron) Penny, Pontiac, Michigan. Predeceased by brothers Kenneth, Cyril, Gerry and sister Marjorie. Resting at the Ferguson Funeral Home and Chapel, O’Leary, with visiting hours Tuesday 6-9 p.m. Funeral on Wednesday at the O’Leary United Church at 4 p.m. Interment to follow in the Cape Wolfe United Cemetery. Brethren of Corinthian Lodge #19, O’Leary, will hold a Masonic Service for their late brother on Tuesday evening at 9.
