Formerly of Hanover Street, Summerside, M. Lorne Campbell, 67 years, passed away peacefully with family at his side in Jewish General Hospital, Montreal, on Friday evening, Sept. 4, after a courageous battle with respiratory illness and cancer. Lorne is survived by sisters Frances Cullen (late Howard), Montreal, Joan Campbell (late Arthur), Trenton, Ont, Florence Gallant (Gerard), Summerside; brothers John Campbell (Janet), Elora, Ont., Earle Campbell (Frances), Kingston, Ont., Jim Campbell (Lorna), New Glasgow, N.S. He was predeceased by his parents Earle and Mary (O’Connor) Campbell, brother Basil. Uncle Lorne will be lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews from Alberta and the Maritimes. As well, sadly missed by friends and associates of the Quebec Federation of Teachers, the Canadian and local kennel clubs, friends and neighbours of St. Jean Baptist, where he resided for many years. Lorne was a breeder of Cavalier King Charles spaniels – he showed concern for his dogs till the end. Lorne’s family received friends at Mount Royal Commemorative services in Outremont, Que., Thursday, Sept. 10. A faithful member of St. Patrick’s Basilica Parish, a funeral mass was held in Our Lady Chapel on Friday, Sept. 11 at 2 p.m. Lorne will be buried with his parents in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Summerside, at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul’s Cemetery fund or the Canadian Cancer Society.
