Patrick Power
Passed on: June 27th, 2011
Passed away On 27/06/2011. Pat passed peacefully away at his home in Bay Bulls with his loving wife Hilda by his side at the age of 73 years. Pat was one of the luckiest men alive. He grew up and spent his life in an idyllic place surrounded by a loving family, a devoted and loving wife, and many close friends. He was very proud of his boys and his many grandchildren, and loved having them around constantly. He enjoyed having fun and spending time with his brothers and sisters, as well as with many old friends from his native Tors Cove. He was a journeyman sheet metal worker and passed his trade on to two of his sons, as well as to many others. For Pat, the Southern Shore was the best place on earth. He loved his time on the fishing grounds off Bay Bulls, as well as in the woods catching rabbits in the fall. His last day was a great one. He spent the day outside in the fresh air, and afterwards was sitting in a chair by the window planning the drying of freshly caught caplin when he passed suddenly and painlessly from this world. Pat will be missed by everyone who knew him, and most remembered for his humour, his kindness, and his generosity. Pat was predeceased by his mother Ethel, father Con, brothers: Don, Bernie, Gerald, Hubert and Sam and sisters: Dorothy, Molly and Vera. Leaving to mourn his wife Hilda; sons: Glen (Florence), Ronnie (Tammy), David (Michele) and Roy (Christine); grandchildren: Ronnie, Sean, Daniel, Alison, Luke, Sarah, Stephen, Caelan and Ryan; brother Richard and sister Anne and a large circle of family and friends on the Southern Shore. Resting at Ryan’s Funeral Home, Bay Bulls on Wednesday June 29th and Thursday June 30th from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral service to take place at Sts. Peter and Paul RC Church, Bay Bulls on Friday July 1st at 11 a.m. Cremation has taken place.
