Douglas Edward Anderson, 58, of Woodville, Kings County, Nova Scotia, passed away Saturday, September 12, 2009 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville, Nova Scotia. Born in Gander, Newfoundland, he was a son of the late Douglas John and Margaret (Raper) Anderson. He was a retired Psychologist, having received his doctorate (Ph.D.) from the University of Alberta and received a number of other university degrees. He was an associate member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Kings Branch No. 6, Kentville. Douglas was very fitness conscious and loved the outdoors, animals and hard work. He is survived by his wife, Jo Ann Mucha; a son, Jason (Mikaline), Red Deer, Alberta; a sister, Valerie, Toronto; a brother, Michael (Alice), Corner Brook, Newfoundland; a grandson, Christian; special friend, Helmut (Marcela), Calgary; nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by a sister, Frances. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville. There will be no visitation, by request. A private family memorial gathering will be held at a later date in the family home. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory may be made to the Margaret and Douglas Anderson Family Foundation, c/o the Bank of Montreal, Kentville.
