It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Mary Olive Lewis, on Sunday, Sept. 13, 2009, at the New Waterford Consolidated Hospital with her family at her side.
Born in Point Edward, she was the daughter of the late Eldridge and Annie (McIsaac) Hill, and was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Mary was a member of All Saints Anglican Church, New Waterford.
Mary was a very generous and outgoing person who enjoyed gardening, baking, shopping and long drives. She also enjoyed a good cup of tea and a conversation. Mary left her mark on anyone she met. In her earlier years she spent many enjoyable summers camping with her family and friends.
Mary is survived by one daughter, who was also her best friend, Laurel (Pat) Sampson, New Waterford; four grandchildren, Janet (Danny) Wilcox, Alisa (Boo) Sinclair, both of Scotchtown, Chris (Heather) Sampson, Barrie, Ont., and Tara (Billy) Lamey, New Waterford; four great-grandchildren, Jeffrey, Jennifer, Colin and Nicole. She was also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Mary was predeceased by her husband, Frank Lewis (1988), her daughter and son in-law, Carmella and Myles Sinclair, a sister, Ethel Cameron, and brothers, Oakly, John, Wesley, Archie, Murray and Willard.
Visitation will be Tuesday, Sept. 15 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the V. J. McGillivray Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. Funeral service will be celebrated by Rev. Stacey LeMoine at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, at All Saints Anglican Church, New Waterford, with a reception to follow in the Church Hall. Interment to follow in St. John’s Cemetery in Point Edward.
