Donna Marie Davidson
Born In: Glace Bay, Nova Scotia, Canada
Passed in: Glace Bay, Nova Scotia, Canada
Passed on: September 13th, 2009
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Donna Davidson. She was a very special lady, daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend who passed away peacefully Sunday, Sept. 13, 2009, at home surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of Nina Edith (Gosbee) McIntyre and the late Michael S. ‘Red Mick’ McIntyre.
Since ‘Give’ was the word that best described St. Vincent de Paul, it is only fitting to use it to describe this selfless woman — Donna. She was a homemaker who loved to take care of others. Donna loved to cook and bake and all who entered her home were always welcomed with a cup of tea and a bite to eat.
She was an avid gardener and yard worker who took pride and dedication in all her tasks. Donna was a seamstress who sewed every stitch with perfection and she spent many hours toiling for loved ones. She loved a good laugh and was noted for her pranks. The greatest joy in Donna’s life was her family.
Besides her mother, Donna is survived by her husband, Daniel J. Davidson; two daughters, Paula (Michael DeCoste), London, Ont., Glenna (Wayne Locke), Glace Bay; one son, Michael (Marina) Davidson, St. Anthony, N.L.; three brothers, Warren (Linda), Dundas, Ont., Dr. Allan (Ann Marie) McIntyre, Halifax, Doug (Elsie), Glace Bay; and one sister, Marlene (Greg Gouthro), Sydney. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Garett and Kyle DeCoste, Ontario, Adam and Patrick Davidson, Newfoundland, Jillian, Kentville, and Leah Tracey, Dominion, Jeffrey and Claire Locke, Glace Bay. Donna will be sadly missed by her daughter-in-law, Linda Tracey; brother-in-law, Blair MacIntyre; sister-in-law, Marie McIntyre; and her special little friends, Ryann Tracey and Connor MacPhee. She was a special aunt to her nieces and nephews, Brian, Matthew, Michael, Donald, David, Karyn, Dwayne, Shawn, Alanna, Morgan, Claire, Catherine, Graham and their families.
Donna was predeceased by her father, Michael ‘Red Mick’ McIntyre and a son, Jimmie ‘Bore’ Davidson.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, Sept. 16 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. The funeral mass officiated by Rev. Andrew Gillies is Thursday morning at 11 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, Bridgeport, followed by interment in the parish cemetery.
All are invited to join the family for a reception in the parish hall, directly below the church.
As an expression of sympathy for Donna, donations in her memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
Online condolences to the family can be expressed at www.vjmcgillivray.ca.

I have finished the race
I have kept the faith.’
