Passed in: Weymouth Mills, Nova Scotia, Canada
Passed on: June 17th, 2011

Elias Benjamin Sabean (known as Junior) passed away on Friday, June 17, 2011, at home, with his son by his side. He was born, raised and spent his life in Weymouth Mills where he was self-employed as a carpenter. He was an avid fan of the Montreal Canadiens, baseball, and enjoyed poker with the gang. He enjoyed working on his property and especially looked forward to his vegetable garden each year. Trout fishing was a hobby he enjoyed passing on to his grandsons. He was a teller of tall tales. Many enjoyed his keen sense of humour and his stories will live on through those who love him. Junior was a good man and many benefitted from his kindness. His children, Spencer Sabean (Janet Tabb Smith), Weymouth Mills and Jill Sabean (Collin Beckwith), Cambridge, Nova Scotia were loved unconditionally and with pride. Never did he speak an unkind word to them. Spencer and Jill have the fondest, most loving memories of their father. He considered himself blessed to have four healthy, happy grandsons, Desmond and Ezra Sabean and Hunter and Hayden Therrien. These boys brought him the greatest joy and reason to brag. Junior was born Jan. 9, 1937, to his late parents, Elias Benjamin Sabean, Sr., and Celeste (Comeau). He came from a large family of 12 and is survived by Ella, Geraldine, Betty, Margaret, Rose, Neil, Dorothy, Harry, Gloria and Linda. He was predeceased by a sister, Kathleen. He is also survived by good friend and the mother of his children, Marina Cooper. The Coopers considered him an integral part of their family. A special thank-you to Helen and George Manzer, Ronnie and Arnold Bell and everyone else who helped during Junior’s illness and passing. Junior managed his illness with acceptance, dignity and strength. We all know he will rest in peace as he passed with a clear conscious never having said an unkind word to or about anyone. Junior felt that he was blessed in his life to have Spencer, Jill, his grandsons, his family and good friends. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville, and there will be no visitation or funeral by request. Interment will take place at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
