Graham, Edward Samuel – Brookfield, NS, passed away peacefully in the Colchester County Hospital, on July 5, 2011, surrounded by members of his family. Born in Pembroke – Upper Stewiacke NS on February 1, 1929, he was the son of the late John and Ivy (Cox) Graham He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years Edna (Matheson) Graham and children, Vern (Linda), Jeff (Ellie) Ivy Haasen (Frank) and Lori (late Barry) Recoskie; nine grandchildren, Derek, Brett, Tracy, Sally (Rob) Jonathan (Lyndie) Sonya (Mike) Eddy (Heather),Cassandra and Jeffrey and two great grand children , Damian and Ella.
Along with his parents he was predeceased by his brothers Roy, Frank and John (Junior). Edward is survived by 3 sisters, Muriel, Helen and Jessie.
Edward retired after 25 years from the Northern College in South Porcupine, Ontario where he and his wife lived for 40 years before returning home to Nova Scotia. He enjoyed playing golf and was an avid curler. Edward was a long time member of the John Fisher Choir and an active member of the Brookfield United Church choir.
Visitation will take place on Thursday from 7- 9 pm in the Mattatall~Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro. Funeral service will be held on Friday, July 8th at 2 pm in Knox United Church, Brookfield, with Rev. Larry Harrison officiating. A reception will follow in the Church Hall. Burial will take place at a later date in the Riverside Cemetery, Upper Stewiacke. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Terry Fox Foundation or the Knox United Church in Brookfield NS.
