Carol Underwood

UNDERWOOD, CAROL - Carol May (Beckett) Underwood passed away unexpectedly in Sudbury, ON on June 22 at the age of 76. Born in Moncton, May 10, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Rev. Gordon and Etta (Rutledge) Beckett. She resided in Moncton, Fawcett Hill and Havelock during her younger years when her father pastored those areas. She was a graduate of Havelock Superior School and Provincial Normal School. She also resided in Montreal, two years in Pakistan with her family and over 30 years in Sudbury. She was a member of All Nations Baptist Church in Sudbury and enjoyed weekly Bible Study classes. She had recently renewed her interest in playing piano and enjoyed music immensely. Carol's father was born in New Jerusalem, now part of Camp Gagetown, and she was looking forward to being in New Brunswick this week for the annual visit to Jerusalem with relatives and others who had once lived in that area. However, our Heavenly Father knows best and we are comforted to know that she is safe in the arms of Jesus. She is survived by husband Earl Underwood; daughters Susan Bigras (Dave), Vicki Lafave (Todd) and son David MacDormand, all of Sudbury. Also survived by sisters Gertrude Templeton (Robert) of Havelock, Pauline Waldman (David deceased) of Montreal; brothers Stanley Beckett (Kay) of Whitehorse and Humbert Beckett (Audrey) of Nackawic; three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service was held June 28, 2011 in Sudbury, ON. Memorials to Greenhill Cemetery Fund, placed through Salisbury Funeral Home (372-4800), would be appreciated. www.keirsteads.ca
