Howard MacDonald
MacDONALD, H. J. D. - Howard J. D. MacDonald, 91, of Monarch Hall, Riverview and formerly of Moncton, passed away peacefully at his residence on Tuesday, July 5, 2011. Born in Queensville, Cape Breton, NS, he was the son of the late John and Catherine (MacEachen) MacDonald. Howard was a retired Air Traffic Controller (1974) and also worked in Pharmacy at Woolworth’s and at Staples. During WWII, he served in Bomber Command belonging to RAF Squadron 192, retiring as a Flying Officer. Howard attended St. Bernard’s Roman Catholic Church and enjoyed playing darts at the Air Force Veterans Club (253 Wing), fishing and family get togethers. Howard is survived by his wife of 66 years, Millicent (Leigh) MacDonald, also of Monarch Hall; one son, John Roy of Greenwood, NS; two daughters, Katherine MacKinnon (Mike) and Ann Murphy, both of Moncton, NB; five grandchildren, Kevin, Leigh and Jessie MacKinnon; Joey and Crystal Murphy; four great grandchildren, Kyle MacKinnon and Alex, Ayden and Liam Murphy. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by three brothers, Hugh, Donald and Neil; four sisters, Mary Jesse, Catherine Champine (Frank), Margaret Fitzmaurice (Arthur) ad Christie Orsi (Leo).
In keeping with Howard’s wishes there will be no visitation hours or funeral service. Private family graveside service will be held.
