Cyril Renouf "Sid" Macintosh

Cyril Renouf “Sid” MacIntosh – 84, Truro, passed away suddenly Thursday morning, July 7, 2011, after being rushed to Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. “Sid” was a lifelong resident of Truro, where he was born on January 8, 1927. He was a son of the late Stanley and Minnie (Renouf) MacIntosh. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Sid was a member of St. David’s United Church, Masonic Lodge # 43, Order of Eastern Star, Philae Temple and the United Commercial Travelers. He spent most of his career travelling Atlantic Canada in the jewelery business. He was a dedicated volunteer canvasser for both the Alzheimer’s Society and Nova Scotia Heart and Stroke Foundation.. He worked as a volunteer sponsoring children to Shriner’s Hospitals for Sick Children. He was a veteran of the Second World War.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years the former June Fowlie; son Wayne, Bedford; daughters, Carolyn Chant (George), Cape Breton, Susan Payne, Calgary; granddaughter Trish, grandsons, Andrew, Peter, Scott, Sean, Marc, Patrick, Jeffrey; eight great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by brothers, Albert, Truman, Kenneth, Wendall; sisters, Vivian, Nella; son-in-law David.
Visitation will take place on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9, and from where a Masonic Lodge service will take place on Sunday evening at 7 pm and where funeral service will take place Monday July 11th,at 2 pm, all in the Mattatall~Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, with Rev. Donna Lawrence officiating. A reception will follow in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Watson Cemetery, Truro. Family flowers only. Donations in Sid’s memory may be made to Shriner’s Hospital for Sick Children.
