We regret to announce the death of Muriel Skinner, 81, a lifelong resident of Park Road, Florence, which occurred July 8, 2011, at Miners Memorial Manor, Sydney Mines.
Born in Florence, she was the daughter of the late Maurice and Florence (Jessome) Edwards.
She is survived by her children, James Edwards (Mary Lou), Ross Ferry, Jennifer Bicknell (Zack), Florence, and Geralyn Eyking (Theodore), Millville; her grandchildren, Jimmy Lorne, Anna, Cora, Joseph, Morgan, Aaron, Maria and Oscar; her sisters, Mildred MacPhee, Winnipeg, Lee White, Florence and Jenny MacDonald, North Sydney and her brother, Gerald, Sydney Mines.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Leo Skinner; her brothers, Butch, Cyril, Raymond, Freddie and Gordon Edwards; her sisters, Margie Edwards and Carilyn White.
Muriel enjoyed camping at Englishtown Ridge, loved cooking and baking and most of all loved spending time with her grandchildren. In her younger years, she worked at Nickerson’s Fish Plant.
There will be no visitation. A graveside service will take place on Tuesday, 11 a.m. in St. Stephen’s Cemetery, Florence, with her nephew, Fr. Conrad Edwards officiating.
