With great sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother and grandmother on September 16, 2009, at the Northside General Hospital. Mary Ann Vickers, late of 52 Vickers Lane, Sydney Mines, passed away peacefully, while asleep.
Born in Sydney Mines, Mary was the daughter of the late Charles B. and Gladys (Green) MacLean of Sydney Mines. She was an adherent of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Sydney Mines.
Left to mourn her are her devoted husband, Russell; daughter, Sharon (Don) Mahoney (the only Mom he knew); her pride and joy, grandson, Scott (Celena Brooks); very special great-grandchildren, Shyla, Kennedy and Hunter. Mary is also survived by sisters, Ella Pollock, Saskatchewan, Althea Cayne, Ontario, Millie Moore, Prince Edward Island and Betty Ross, Sydney Mines; brothers, Les (Germaine), Murray (Jean) and Greg (Betty), all of Sydney Mines; loved sisters-in-law, Lorraine and Theresa MacLean, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Mary was predeceased by sisters, Estelle, Willena and Frances Love; brothers, Wilson and Allister.
As per Mom’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Due to special circumstances, a memorial service for the late Mrs. Vickers will be held at a later date.
