It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Russell Edward Dobson age 78 of Amherst on Tuesday, September 15, 2009 at the QEII Health Science Centre, Infirmary Site, Halifax, NS, with his loving family by his side.
Born in Amherst, he was a son of the late Blanche (Pettigrew) and Edward Dobson.
Russell worked for Robb's Engineering until his retirement in 1991. Russell was a Master Marksman of the Nova Scotia Rifle Association. He was an avid outdoorsman, where he enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping and spending time at his camp with his friends and family. In his younger years, he was involved in all aspects of Minor Hockey.
He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife the former Gini (Virginia) (MacPhee) of Amherst; his children, Susan (Fred) Landry of Amherst, Russell Jr. (Kathy) of Amherst, Wayne (Kim) and Jeffrey both of Calgary, AB; his step children, Lori Dimick, Jon Dimick both of Chester, NS, Geoffrey Dimick and Stephen Roach both of Ottawa, ON; sisters, Olive Arseneau, Ruth (Clarence) Arenburg, Peggy MacKenzie, Hazel (Shirley) Arenburg, Shirley (Bert) Michels, Joyce Maloney all of Amherst; brothers, Ronnie (Eva), Jack, Gordie (Dorothy), Albert (Linda), Arnold (Beverly) all of Amherst and Kenny (Christine) of Guelph, ON; nine grandchildren, three great grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Russell was predeceased by his brother Vaughn.
Friends and family are invited to a time of visitation on Thursday, September 17, 2009 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. in Campbell's Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst (667-9906) Funeral service will be held on Friday at 11:00 a.m. from Campbell's Chapel with Rev. Donald Miller officiating.
