AMHERST, NS The death of Jessie Symes, age 83, widow of Clifford Symes, 0f Amherst, NS, occurred at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre on Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2009.
Born in Stanley, Durham Co., England, she was the youngest daughter of the late Francis and Sarah Jane (Carter) Stainthorpe.
Jessie was a faithful employee with Fraser Dry Cleaners for 33 years prior to retirement. She was a member of the Bayfield United Church and the Silver Pioneers Seniors Club and Immanuel United Church UCW.
Jessie will be sadly missed by her daughters, Linda (David) Stiles, Maccan, NS and Mary (Ernest) Dunlop of Amherst with whom she made her home; six grandchildren, William, Ann (Dana), Bruce (Tanya), Vickie (Mark), Michael (Angie) and David; fourteen great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren. She has several nieces and nephews in Canada, England and New Zealand.
The last surviving member of her immediate family, she was predeceased by her husband, Clifford Symes; sisters, Hanah and Mary; brothers, Sydney, Frank, Alan and William and special brother-in-law Fred Male.
Jessie's remains have been entrusted into the care of the Jones Funeral Home, Port Elgin, NB (506-538-2241) from where visitation will be held Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6:30 to 8:30 pm. The funeral service will be held from the Bayfield United Church, Bayfield, NB on Friday, Sept. 11, 2009 at 2 pm. A time of tea and fellowship will be held following at the East Botsford Recreational Centre. Burial in the Bayfield Cemetery.
