Vivian Mary Parks, passed away peacefully at the Northside General Hospital on Friday, July 8, 2011, at the age of 89.
Born in Montreal, she moved to Cape Breton at a young age. She enjoyed knitting and spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by three daughters, Jessica (Mrs. Richard Hudson), Betty (Mrs. Dale McKnight), Levina (Mrs. Graham J. Mulholland); two sons, Jimmy (Nicki) Turner, Charles (Joy) Parks. Vivian has 15 grandchildren and 14 greatgrandchildren. She was anxiously awaiting the birth of her 15th great-grandchild. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Pearl Parks with whom she shared a very special bond.
Vivian was predeceased by her husband, James ‘Nudge’ Parks, two daughters, Sharon Lucas and Anna Parks, and her son, Ronnie Parks.
Visitation for Vivian will be 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Monday, in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. A funeral mass will be held Tuesday, 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, North Sydney, with Rev Patrick O’Neil officiating. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the Nova Scotia Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Nova Scotia Lung Association or the Canadian Cancer Society.
