Passed peacefully away at his home on Friday, July 8, 2011, Joseph William (Bill) Allan, founder and owner of J.W. Allan Co. Ltd. (1996), age 84 years. Bill was an ardent curler, photographer, fisherman and sailor. Predeceased by his parents and his brother and friend Bob. Leaving to mourn his wife of 59 years, Catherine (Kay) Allan (nee Costigan); four children, Bill (Peggy) of Corner Brook, Peggy (Brad) Armstrong of Hinton, Alberta, Patsy (Lorne) Deering of Antigonish, NS, Gerry (Margie) of St. John’s; 14 grandchildren Bill, Mark, Catherine, Marion, Jonathan, Naomi, Gemma, Emily, Connor, Stephen, Joseph, Kathleen, Patricia and Michael; also survived by his sister Marjorie Corbett and brother John Allan, both of St. John’s; special cousin Eugenie of Montreal; as well as a large circle of other relatives and friends, especially Doug, Ray and his “Village Coffee Buddies”. Special thanks to Dr. Nigel Duguid and Dr. Scott Moffatt. Resting at Caul’s Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road. Visitation Saturday from 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. Funeral Mass on Monday, July 11 at 1 p.m. from St. Pius X Church with interment to follow at Belvedere Cemetery. Donations in his memory may be made to Eastern Health (Pulmonary Rehabilitation).
