Peacefully, at home in O’Leary, with his family at his side, on Sunday, July 10, 2011, of Lewis Elmo MacKenzie, aged 87, beloved husband of Jeanette (nee Milligan) MacKenzie.
Lewis was born in Springfield West on January 25, 1924, son of the late Lewis and Annie Belle (Gillis) MacKenzie.
Cherished father of Esther (Bert) Kelly; Trenna (Rick )Adams; Andrew (Pam); Sharon Adams (John Landry); Katherine MacLeod (Peter Elsinga).
Loving grandfather of Caroline Kelly (Jeffrey Nelson), Andrew (Victoria) Kelly, Joel (Amy) Adams, Matthew (Jocelyn) Adams, Jonathan and Katie Adams, Marcus, Timothy, Hannah, and Justin MacKenzie, Michael, Rachel and David Arbing, Roderick and Colin MacLeod.
Great-grandchildren: Shamus Warren, Ella Jane and Jill Adams and Jack Lewis Kelly.
Dear brother of Josie Clements, Pearl Parker, Margaret MacMillan, Lila Naomi MacKenzie.
Brother-in-law of Verna MacKenzie, Olive MacKenzie, Lila Mae MacKenzie, Ethel Gallant, Frances Milligan and Lila Milligan .
Predeceased by his parents, Sisters Bernice (Jamie) MacWilliams, Annie (Lyle) Sweezy, Alwyn (John Smallman), brothers: Charles MacKenzie, Jack MacKenzie, Albert MacKenzie and Donald MacKenzie, brothers and sisters in law: Foster Hierlihy, Albert MacMillan, Lowell Clements, Sidney Parker, Fred (Anna) Milligan, Everett (Hazel) Milligan, Alfred Milligan and Russell Milligan, son in law: Dale Adams and infant Grandson Stephen MacKenzie.
Resting at the Ferguson Funeral Home and Chapel, O’Leary with visiting hours Monday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral on Tuesday in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel at 2 p.m. Interment to follow in the Free Church of Scotland Cemetery, Milo.
In memory of Lewis, memorials to the Free Church of Scotland Cemetery or O’Leary Community Health Foundation (Palliative Care Unit) would be appreciated.
