SURETTE, Bernadette Rose – 65, Willow St., Yarmouth, passed away on Tuesday, July 5, 2011 in QE II Health Sciences Centre (VG Site), Halifax. Born October 7, 1945 in Morris Island, she was a daughter of the late Luxime and Thérèse (LeBlanc) Surette. Bernadette worked as a housekeeper, and she was a member of the Cursillo movement, and she enjoyed walking and reading. She is survived by sisters, Mabel (Alvin) Hubbard, Pauline (Leslie) Muise, both of Hubbard’s Point; Marie (Jerry) Cottreau, Surette’s Island; Jeanette (Roland) Cottreau, Wedgeport; brothers, Kenneth (Noreen) Surette, Morris Island; Richard Surette, Yarmouth; Allan (Carmella) Surette, Amirault’s Hill. Aside from her parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Mildred Doucette and a brother, Leo Surette. Visitation took place from 2-4 & 7-9 Friday, with prayers at 8 p.m. both at H. M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, 29 Albert Street, Yarmouth. The funeral mass was held on Saturday, July 9, at 10:30 a.m. at Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church, Surette’s Island, Father Maurice LeBlanc officiated. Interment followed in the parish cemetery.
