Passed peacefully away at Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital, Stephenville, NL on July 9, 2011, Don MacWhirter. Leaving with cherished memories of their 46 years of marriage, his wife Marie, his 5 children who will celebrate his life and their family times together are: Janet (Mannie), Karyn (Chris), Donnie (Annette), Darren, Alison (Brian), his 5 grandchildren whom he loved dearly: Jordon, Kerri, Evan, Daniel and Kaylee will remember the fun times they had with him. His brother Ted (Maureen) will recount their many adventures. Don's nieces and nephews: Michelle (Kyle), Jeremy (Jennifer), Craig (Leah) and Beth (Steve) will miss his sense of humor. His grand-niece, Ella will miss his playful nature. He leaves in good standing his in-laws: Theresa (Hugh), Anne (Robert), Irene (Wade), and Bill. In addition, Don will be remembered for his music, paintings, sports and overall interest in life by a large number of friends, relatives and their families.These include Walt (Jean), Gord (Beth), Doug (Kay), Eileen (Joe), Olga and special cousin, Joan Murphy. Don was predeceased by his mother, Min, Uncle France, Aunt Mame and Aunt Gert. Friends may call at Russell's Funeral Home, 57 Prince Rupert Drive, Stephenville from 2-4 pm and 7-9pm Monday, July 11, 2011. Funeral service will take place at St. Stephen's Parish,West Street, Stephenville on Tuesday, July 12th at 10am with cremation to follow. Burial will take place on Wednesday, July 13th at 11am at Hillside Interfaith Cemetary, Hansen Highway, Stephenville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Canadian Cancer Society.
