HENDERSON, LENA “LEE” DOROTHY - The death of Lena “Lee” Dorothy Henderson, wife of the late Cecil Henderson, occurred at White Rapids Manor Nursing Home on Tuesday, July 5th, 2011. Born in Saint John, NB on January 14, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Margaret (Brooks) Vincent. Lee was a resident of Fredericton since 1949 and resided on McEvoy Street from 1950 to 2003. A mother and homemaker and an avid gardener, Lee spent countless hours on her flower beds and indoor house plants both at home and at the summer cottage in Fair Vale. She was a longtime member of Wilmot United Church and an active member of the UCW (United Church Women) and the IODE St. Anne's Branch. She was predeceased by husband, Cecil; granddaughter, Mary Henderson and sister, Eleanor MacKenzie. Survived by her daughter Carolyn Blucher (Ron), Rothesay NB and son Bev Henderson (Cathy), Saint John NB; five grandchildren: Jeff Blucher (Stephanie), Halifax NS, Andrew Blucher, Calgary, AB, Mark Blucher (Melissa),Quispamsis, NB, Julie Donnelly (James), Kelowna, BC and Nathan Henderson, Saint John, NB; five great grandchildren: Jack Blucher, Sophie Blucher, Chase Blucher, Max Blucher and Sarah Donnelly; brother- in- law Rev. H.G. MacKenzie (Gladys), Fredericton, NB; sister- in- law Dorothy White (Clint), Regina, SK; brother- in- law Lloyd Henderson (Joyce), London, ON; sister- in- law Winnifred Roberts (Armand deceased) Quispamsis, NB, as well as several nieces and nephews and childhood friend Irene.
The family will receive visitors at McAdam's Funeral Home, 160 York Street, Fredericton on Friday, July 15th, 2011 from 2 to 5 PM. The funeral service will take place at the J. A. McAdam Memorial Chapel on Saturday, July 16th, 2011 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Bob Jones officiating immediately followed by a reception at the funeral home. Interment will take place in the Sunny Bank Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes in Lee’s honor may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
