At Whisperwood Villa, Charlottetown, on Thursday, September 17, 2009, of Kathleen Margaret Shreenan, R.N., aged 94 years. Born on June 15, 1915, she was a daughter of the late John Shreenan and Margaret (McKenna) Shreenan. Kathleen graduated from the Charlottetown Hospital School of Nursing in 1939. Many of her professional years were spent in Montreal with the V.O.N. She then was employed at the Shriner’s Hospital as a nurse and a supervisor. Upon retiring, Kathleen returned to her beloved Prince Edward Island where she enjoyed many happy and leisurely years. Kathleen was an ardent supporter of many charities both local and international. Over the years she sponsored several foreign children seeing them through their schooling. She treasured their letters and cards. Her other interests included reading and travel. Kathleen is predeceased by her brothers Gerald and Raymond and her sister Laurena. She is survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. Resting at Lawless Funeral Home, 21 Somerset St., Kinkora. Visiting hours Friday, September 18, from 6-9 p.m. only. Funeral Saturday, September 19, at St. Malachy’s Church, Kinkora, with funeral mass at 10 a.m. Interment in the parish cemetery. Donations in Kathleen’s memory may be made to St. Malachy’s Restoration Fund.
