Veronica "Bonnie" St.Peters
ST.PETERS (Wolfe), Veronica Oressa “Bonnie” 91, of Halifax, passed away peacefully at the QEII Health Sciences Centre with her family by her side on July 11, 2011. Born in River Hebert, Nova Scotia, she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Aldora (Gates) Wolfe.
She is survived by her brother Douglas Wolfe; her sons Bernard (Marlene) and Ronald (Marion Crowell); daughter, Cathy Christo; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Bonnie was predeceased by her husband of 68 years, Bernie St. Peters; her sisters Dorothy Beaton, Martha MacAloney, Heartha Bridges and brother Lorraine Wolfe.
Bonnie was a founding member and first president of the River Hebert CWL, for which she recently attended the celebration of its sixtieth anniversary. After moving to Halifax, she was an active member and past president of St. Pius X CWL Fairview, where she served as a member of the funeral choir, a Consolation Minister and as a Minister of Communion.
During her working life, Bonnie managed the bookstore at Mount Saint Vincent University for many years. She volunteered as a member of the auxiliary at APSEA, the senior’s lunch program at Fairview United Church and she was a member of the Red Hatters.
As a beloved mother and devoted friend to many, Bonnie’s most treasured moments were spent playing cards and reminiscing with friends and family, especially her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who affectionately called her “Nanny”, “Nan” and “Granny”.
Visitation will take place at Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Road, in Halifax on Wednesday July 13 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. Funeral Mass will take place on Thursday, July 14 at 10:30 am at Saint Benedict Parish, 45 Radcliffe Drive, Halifax. Reception will follow in the Parish Hall.
