MacDONALD, Audrey Viola – 77, Truro, passed away peacefully, with her loving family at her side, on Monday evening, July 11, 2011, at Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born December 15, 1933, in Winnipeg, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Lillian (Spinks) Lounsbury. Audrey was the matriarch of her family and devoted her life to her husband, children and grandchildren. In earlier years, she worked at Royal Theatre, where she operated the concession stand. She then worked at Sobeys Thrift Mart on Inglis Place; co-managed, with her husband, Green Gables (the first in Truro) and then at Nova Scotia Youth Training Centre as a housemother until her retirement. Audrey is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Paul Allister MacDonald; children, Letha A’Court, East Mountain; Marilyn MacDonald, Dartmouth; William “Bill” (Sharon) MacDonald, Belmont; brother, Arthur Lounsbury, Winnipeg; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by two sisters and two brothers. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where the funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, July 16, 2011, Reverend Mary White officiating. Reception will follow. Private family interment in Crossroads Cemetery, Valley. In lieu of flowers, donations in Audrey’s name to Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of choice are welcomed.
