Mother of Daniel (Robin Traversy) of North York, Tony (Aleida Tweten) of Stratford, P.E.I.; Pierre of Kingston, Steve (Theresa) of London, ON; André (Marie-Josée Lévesque) of Gatineau, QC; Cathy (Kyle Cobble) of Saginaw, TX; Selena (Matt Hern) of Vancouver. Grandmother to Sadie, Daisy, Rémy Thomas, Vincent Francis, Olivia, Andrew, Amanda, Heath, Gabriel, Skylar, Caleb, Brad and Geoff. Godmother of Chantalle McCarville of Belleville, Jim McInnis of Ottawa, Patrick Daniel Champagne of Granby, QC. Sister of Hugh (Gail) of Souris, P.E.I.; Naomi (late Emmett McInnis) of Kensington, P.E.I.; Gerald (Lucienne) of Charlottetown, Michael (Betty) of Stanhope, P.E.I.; Anna (late Lorne Toole) of Bonshaw, P.E.I.; Olive (Gordie Hughes) of Charlottetown, Freda of Charlottetown and John of Ottawa. She was an engaged community volunteer across Canada including Laubach Literacy Council in Barrie Ontario 1980-1998 and Senior Centre Kingston 1998-present, the Canadian Girl Guides and the Catholic Women League throughout her life. She was passionate about words, reading, and early childhood education passing these interests on to her children and her grandchildren. Family and friends will be received at the Gordon F. Tompkins Funeral Homes, 435 Davis Drive (Taylor Kidd Blvd. & Centennial Drive), on Saturday, July 16, 2011, from 12 p.m. until the time of the service at 2 p.m. Cremation has taken place. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association in Janet’s memory. A memorial mass will be celebrated in Kensington, P.E.I., details will be announced at a later date.
