PAUK - Mrs. Elfriede Pauk of Swift Current, Sask. and formerly of Bracken, Sask. passed away at the age of 83 on July 9, 2011 following a brief illness. She was predeceased by her father Friedrich Struss in 1964 and by her mother Karoline Struss in 1972 and by her husband Wenzel Pauk in 2010. She is survived by daughters Rose Lis (Ron) of Swift Current, Sask., Ingrid Fossum (Garry) of Frontier, Sask., son Roland Pauk (friend Rena Mclean) of Bracken, Sask., grandchildren Scott Lis (Kelsey Clarke), Kristen Lis all of Edmonton, Russell Fossum, Adrienne Ewanchuk (Justin) all of Regina and Elissa Bogdan (Bryan) of Snow Lake, Manitoba. Elfriede was born in Bremen, West Germany on May 17, 1928. She immigrated to Canada in 1953, newly married with her husband Wenzel. Elfriede was an industrious homemaker and an active farm wife. She took an interest in many hobbies. She learned to quilt and crochet. She did cross stitch and dabbled in artwork and pencil sketching. She sewed clothes for her family and grandchildren. She enjoyed swimming as a pastime and listening to classical music. She was an avid gardener and did a lot of canning and cooking. She enjoyed dancing and square dancing. She was a member of the Bracken UCW and later a member of Grace United Church in Swift Current. She delivered meals on wheels and attended Prairie Pioneer Kiwanis wives’ functions. Elfriede was dedicated to her family and grandchildren and made every birthday and Christmas a very special time. Elfriede never asked for anything for herself, she took pleasure in simple things and always put family first. A memorial service was held at Bracken United Church on Thursday, July 14, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. with Minister Shelby Kinrade officiating. The organist was Carol East. Honorary Pall bearers were everyone who shared in her life. A private family interment service took place prior to the service. Arrangements were in care of Binkley’s Funeral Service of Shaunavon (www.Binkleys.com). Memorial donations to the Bracken United Church would be appreciated by the family.
