Ruby M. Winsor

Passed away on July 12, 2011 at the Leonard A. Miller Centre, St. John’s, after a short battle with cancer, Ruby Winsor of Wesleyville, age 76 years. Predeceased by her husband, Harold; sisters: Frances McGowan and Genevieve Prise; and brother, Benjamin Ford. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are: daughter, Shirley (Henry Andrews) of Mount Pearl; sons: Sam (Isabelle) of Carmanville, Alex (Imelda) of St. John’s, Glen (Angela) of Glovertown; nine grandchildren: Jennifer, Heather (Michael Vickers) and Stephen Andrews, Jeffrey (Cayla), David (Allison) Winsor, Mark, Sarah, Janine and Alex Winsor; three great-grandchildren: Ewan and Stella Vickers and Jack Winsor; sisters-in-law: Marie Winsor, Audrey (Bruce Gibbons); many nieces, nephews and cousins as well as a large circle of neighbours and friends, especially her United Church Women family.
Special thanks to the staff of the Miller Centre Palliative Care Unit for their care and compassion during her last few days.
Resting at Kittiwake Funeral Home, Pound Cove, on Wednesday from 3 p.m. - 5 p.m., 7 p.m.- 9 p.m., Thursday from 10 a.m. - 12 Noon, 2 p.m. - 5 p.m., 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Friday, July 15, at 2 p.m. from the Jubilee United Church, Wesleyville, with Rev. Brian Hannon officiating. Interment will follow at the Jubilee United Church Cemetery, Wesleyville. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Wesleyville United Church or to the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Care Foundation.
