W.A. Spendelow

SPENDELOW - Welland Arthur "Peanut" aged 73 years of Herbert, Saskatchewan passed away at the Herbert Hospital on Saturday, July 9, 2011. The Graveside service was held from the Senlac Cemetery, Senlac, SK on Thursday, July 14, 2011 at 2:00 pm with Doug and Becky Middleton officiating. Pallbearers were Marty Spendelow, Wes Spendelow, Avery Spendelow, Brett Jensen, Jim Spendelow and Brian Spendelow. Welland is survived by his daughters; Shannon (Lee) Spendelow of Swift Current, SK and Michele (Dale) Spendelow of Edmonton, AB; grandsons Brett and Devon Jensen of Swift Current, SK; brothers Stan (Beth) Spendelow of Saskatoon, SK, Dennis (Elvina) Spendelow of Hope, BC and sister Joyce Walker of Wainwright, BC; wife Donna Spendelow of Kamloops, BC as well as several nieces and nephews from all over Canada. He was predeceased by his wife Elva; brother Ron Spendelow; parents Ruth and Arthur Spendelow; parents-in-law Maxwell and Edna Cameron. Welland was born march 29, 1938 in Unity, SK. He attended school in Rutland, SK then in 1946 moved to Senlac. He was married twice, firstly to Elva Maxine Cameron on June 12, 1965. After her passing he married Donna Spendelow on November 30, 1991. Welland started working at age 12 for several of the area farmers then joined in partnership with his brother Stan. Together they bought farmland and ranchland near Senlac, SK. He eventually downsized and purchased land at Herbert near his grandsons. Welland loved his land and cattle, his family, neighbours and friends. He enjoyed going to the farm auctions, good NHL games on the tv and a nice cold beer. He also enjoyed a good joke and seeing someone who could appreciate the simple, fun things in life. In his memory memorial donations may be made to the Senlac Community Hall in Senlac, SK.
