McKAY, Ralph Charles “Ralphie” – 50, passed away suddenly, Sunday morning,
July 17, 2011, in Truro, as the result of a heart attack. Born February 9, 1961, in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late Leo and Dorothy (Smith) McKay. Ralphie attended Central Nova Wesleyan Church. He had a passion for boxing and hockey, both watching and participating. He played hockey with various leagues in Stellarton and enjoyed watching and cheering on his favourite team, Ottawa Senators. He loved his “good ol’ country music” and his family will cherish the many tapes he recorded for them. He was loved and cherished by all who knew him and he will be missed. Ralphie is survived by his girlfriend of eight years, Angela Blackmore, Truro; sisters, Marjorie Fisher, Juanita Bartlett, Nadine (Billy) Moore, Linda (Lawrence) Whidden, Betty McKay (Tony Amirault), Carol McKay, all of Truro; Charlene Butler (Rick), Woodstock, Ontario; brother, Jimmy (Darlene) McKay, Woodstock, Ontario; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Raymond McKay; nephews, Raymond, Paul, Josh, Ronnie. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Ralphie’s family will receive friends from 2-4, 7-9 p.m., Wednesday, July 20, 2011, and where the funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Thursday, July 21, 2011. Interment in Our Lady Of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church Cemetery, Stellarton. Flowers or donations in Ralphie’s memory to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or a charity of choice are welcomed.
