PELLERIN, Lionel Henry
With heavy hearts, the family of Lionel Henry Pellerin are saddened to announce that Lionel passed away at his home on Thursday, September 17, 2009 after a short but courageously fought battle with cancer. Lionel was born to Yvon and Irene Pellerin in 1941 and grew up on the farm in Albertville, Saskatchewan. Lionel graduated from the Albertville school and then attended teacher’s college in Saskatoon for a year. As a young man, Lionel loved playing baseball as a pitcher and hockey. He also loved playing the guitar and singing with his friends. Lionel’s work took him and his family Fraezor, Sharon, Pat and Eroca to Ft. St. John, Prince Albert, Saskatoon, Kamloops, and Calgary where he spent many years in the construction industry as a drywaller. After meeting Diann in Regina in 1976, they married, and had their children Darryl and Danielle in St. Albert. Together they managed apartment complexes in Edmonton and Fort McMurray which has been home for the last 20 years. Recently Lionel worked for Sobey’s (IGA) and Rona until his retirement and started travelling to places he had always dreamed of with Diann. Lionel was always one to surprise us whether it was riding a roller coaster in Disney World with his grandchildren, taking a cruise when he was never comfortable around water, or enjoying time with family at Tobin Lake. Every morning Lionel was always good for a newspaper, a cup of coffee and his crossword puzzles. He cherished his grandchildren, loved his cats, and always looked forward to a new adventure. Lionel loved watching western movies, comedies, the Pink Panther, reading suspense thrillers, playing cards and board games. He loved the Montreal Canadiens and Saskatchewan Roughriders and was always up for a constructive conversation. Lionel had a passion for cooking whether it was his famous lasagne, chilli, pies, or cookies. Lionel is survived by his wife Diann (Rodier) of 33 years; children Fraezor (Debbie) Martina and Cardell; Pat (Sharmaine) Kayla and Josh; Eroca (Fraser) Ashlie, Taylor, Nathan, Rebecca, Zachary, Brandon; Darryl and Jayda; Danielle (Malvin) Natalie and Emily; sister Colette and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Lionel was predeceased by his mother and father; daughter Sharon; infant sister Pauline and brother Arthur. Lionel will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, friend and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. Prayer Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 22, 2009 at Gray’s Funeral Chapel, 575 – 28th Street West, Prince Albert, SK with Yvonne Nakonechny officiating. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 23, 2009 at St. James Roman Catholic Church, Albertville, SK with Celebrant Reverend Father Travis Myrheim. Interment will be held at Albertville Cemetery. In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 54 – 11th Street East, Prince Albert, SK S6V 0Z9.
