It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Bernetta MacGean on Monday, July 18, 2011, at home.
Born in Sydney Mines on Feb. 21, 1950, she was the daughter of the late Roddie and Ellen (Vickers) MacIntyre. Bernetta worked for many years at National Sea Products Fish Plant in North Sydney. She was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 008, Sydney Mines, and a 45 year member of the ladies auxiliary. Bernetta was also a member of the North Sydney and Sydney Mines Pensioners’ Clubs.
She will be sadly missed by her son, Gerard (Ellie) and her granddaughter, Isabella, who was the light of her life. Also left to mourn her loss are her brothers, Lenny (Margie), Cliff (Darlene) and Raymond; and her sisters, Ann (Jim), Wendy (Jimmy), Cathy (George), Barb and Heather; the father of her son, Gerard MacGean Sr., and many nieces and nephews.
Bernetta will be sadly missed by great friends, Sonny Tremblett, Arnell Barrie, Darlene Cameron and Eileen Romeo.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by brothers, Arthur, Purves and Clayton and sisters, Bev and Alice.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation for Bernetta MacGean will be held Thursday, July 21,2011, in the J. M. Jobes Funeral Home, 635 Main St., Sydney Mines, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A celebration of her life will take place Friday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel, with Rev. Nick Phillips officiating. A reception will be held at the Sydney Mines Legion immediately following the service.
