It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Deloris Gillis, who passed away peacefully at her home in Sydney Mines on Tuesday, July 19, 2011.
Born in Sydney Mines on February 22, 1940, Deloris was the daughter of the late Thomas and Rita MacLeod.
She was a member of Immaculate Conception Parish, Sydney Mines. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
One of her greatest joys in life was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Deloris is survived by her husband Bernie, and her children; Joe (Charlene), Sydney Mines, Alex (Laura Jane), Little Narrows, Kim (Darryl) MacKinnon, Sydney Mines, and Willina (Troy) Pero, Bras d'Or, nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents, Deloris was predeceased by her son Murdock Thomas.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held on Friday, July 22, 2011, at 2 p.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, Sydney Mines, with Fr. Ajit Kerketta officiating.
