MATTHEWS, Mary (nee Stokes) — Passed peacefully away on Sunday, November 23, 2008 at St. Clare’s Hospital after a lengthy illness, Mary Matthews, in her 76th year. Predeceased by her husband John; brothers: Ken, Hubert and Les Stokes; sisters-in-law: Blanche Stokes and Olive Stokes; brother-in-law Charlie Parsons. Leaving to mourn her loving sons; Paul (Sylvie), Ottawa, Ont and Mark (Barbara) St. John’s; her precious granddaughter Julia; brothers: Norm Stokes (Bernice Cook) and Lorenzo Stokes (Bernice); sisters: Ann Parsons and Geraldine Sprague (Bill); sisters-in-law: Olive Stokes and Eleanor Stokes; and special granddaughter Andrea Green as well as a large number of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and close friends. Resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road. Visitation on Monday and Tuesday from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service on Wednesday, November 26, 2008 at 2 p.m. from Wesley United Church. Interment to follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
