Ralph Murray Wyatt passed away September 19, 2009 in Regina with his family by his side. Survived by his best friend, travel companion and loving son Brent (Elizabeth) and grandson Matthew of Toronto; brothers Harold (Hal) of Calgary and Robert (Bob) of Moose Jaw and numerous nieces and nephews who fondly remember him as Uncle Rip. Predeceased by his loving wife Hazel on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2007 and sisters Irene, Helen and Ann. Ralph devoted his lifetime to service to the labour movement and the members of his union. He began his career as a switcher for Sask-Tel in Moose Jaw in 1946 and was one of the first apprentices hired after the war. The union was started in 1945 under the CCF government and Ralph became a union rep shortly after he started and went on to hold almost every post in the local and then the national union, being elected as the first Secretary Treasurer for the Communication Workers of Canada when it was formed in 1972. Ralph retired in 1993 after 47 years of untiring service. Ralph enjoyed traveling immensely and did a lot of this while he was with the union or to visit his son Brent. He enjoyed meeting new people and his fondest memories were of his trips to Japan, England, Hong Kong, Portugal, Australia and Grand Cayman as well as throughout Canada and the US. Ralph married Hazel on September 23, 1949. Hazel spent her life caring for others and for Ralph during their 58 years of marriage and they are now reunited once again for eternity. Ralph was a wonderful husband, father, and friend. He was a man of strength, integrity and principle. He never raised his voice or spoke an unkind word and was always the first to extend his hand in friendship or to help another in need. A true gentleman in every sense. He will be sadly missed by all that had the pleasure of meeting him. A celebration of Ralph’s life will be held at the West Harvest Inn, 4025 Albert Street, Regina from 4 pm to 7 pm on Friday, September 25, 2009. In lieu of flowers, for family and friends so wishing a donation may be made in memory of Ralph to a charity of your choice. In living memory of Ralph, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W. J.
