LINTON, Ray Bedford “Ted” – 90, of Yarmouth, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on July 16, 2011. Born September 13, 1920 in Grand Manan, New Brunswick, he was a son of the late Ashton and Margaret Ann (White) Linton. Ray was a member of the Royal Canadian Air Force and a member of the Masonic Lodge in Grand Manan. Moving to Yarmouth in 1965, he continued his love for the sea and fishing for many years. He had a great love for baseball. During his early years, he was known as “Slugger” when he played. He was also a champion in badminton. He enjoyed woodworking, puzzles, photography, watching the Toronto Blue Jays and he loved plants and could grow anything. He is survived by wife, Irene Linton; daughters, Sandra Murphy, Saint John, N.B.; Annita (Donnie) Nickerson, Yarmouth; son, David (Laurie) Linton, Yarmouth; brother, Eugene Linton, Yarmouth; sister, Phyllis Thompson, Grand Manan, N.B.; seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by son, Evan F. Linton; brother, Roy Linton; sister, Helen Pellerine; nephew, Jamie Thompson. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Yarmouth. Visitation took place Sunday, July 17 from 7-9 p.m. at Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel where funeral service was held Monday, July 18 at 2 p.m., Rev. Robert Baker officiated. Interment followed in Chegoggin Cemetery. Donations in Ray’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the Victorian Order of Nurses, Tri-County Branch. The family would like to thank the Angels that gave him such wonderful care so that he could live out his days at home: Palliative Care Nurse, Sheila D’Eon, Dr. Thomas Muise and the Victorian Order of Nurses.
