TATTRIE, Murray Irving – 75, Central North River. It is with great sadness that we announce that Murray passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Wednesday, September 23, 2009 in Colchester Regional Hospital. Born August 23, 1934, in Upper North River, he was a son of the late Victor and Viola Tattrie. He was a carpenter for 25 years and then worked at the Department Of Transportation until his retirement. He was an honourary member of the North River Fire Brigade with 25 years of service. Murray is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Elsie Pauline Blades; children, Wayne, Randy, Billy (Rose), Mark (Angela), Velvet (Jimmy) Prest, Dana, Kathy (Joey) Brenton, Susan (Joe) Atkinson, Michelle (Mike) Harper; 14 grandchildren; siblings, Doreen Gorman, Esther MacFarlane, Floyd (Marguerite), Elroy (Pat), Sterling (Vera); brother-in-law, Carl Tattrie; many, many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sister, Marguerite Green; mother and father-in-law, Bill and Bessie (MacFarlane) Blades; brothers-in-law, Morris Green, Harry Gorman, Chesley MacFarlane, Murray MacLean, Ralph Reade, Sid Chapman; sisters-in-law, Lil MacLean; Helen Tattrie, Winnie Chapman, Opal Reade, Lola Tattrie; good friend, Clarence “Red” MacPhail. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Murray’s family will receive friends from 7-9 pm Friday, September 25, 2009, and where the funeral service will be held 2 pm Saturday, September 26, 2009, Reverend David Lutes officiating. Reception will follow. Interment will then be held in Blackmore Memorial Cemetery, Upper North River. Family flowers only. If so desired, donations in Murray’s memory to Lung Association of Nova Scotia, Canadian Diabetes Association or a charity of choice are welcomed.
