WILLIAMS, JANET REID (nee MOSSMAN) - Surrounded by her loving family, Janet Reid Williams (nee Mossman), wife of Joseph Williams, of McAdam, passed away peacefully at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital, Fredericton, NB, on Friday, July 22, 2011. Born in Cambuslang, Glasgow, Scotland, February 4, 1923, to parents, George and Jean Mossman Sr. The family immigrated to Canada in 1929, settling on a farm on the Connell Hill, Florenceville, NB. Janet graduated from Florenceville Superior School with high honours and went on to Provincial Normal School where she obtained a Superior Teachers Licence, later teaching at schools in Knoxford, Plaster Rock, Florenceville and McAdam. There she settled after marrying Joe, and raised their family while returning to teaching and eventually retiring from a long and successful teaching career. She was devoted to her six children, 14 grandchildren and five, soon to be six, great-grandchildren and enjoyed her long summers at the camp on Oromocto Lake. She also traveled extensively. Janet is survived by her husband, Joe; children, Joanne McIntosh (Fred), Florenceville, NB, Jean McMullen, Mississauga, ON, Shelley Dunphy (David), Taymouth, NB, Cathy Bitton (Simon), Montreal, QC, Karen Pelletier (George Lacey), Fredericton, NB and Lorraine Woodford (James), Keswick Ridge, NB; grandchildren, Aaron McIntosh (Terri), Dr. Sean McIntosh, Dr. Scott McIntosh, Blair McIntosh (Amy), Peter McMullen (Liz), Matthew McMullen (Jessica), Carolyn McMullen, Jessica Bitton, Jeremey Bitton, Jacob Bitton, Joey Wheaton, Jenny Wheaton, Reece Pelletier, Rachelle Pelletier; five great-grandchildren; sister, Faye Estey (late Harold); John Mossman (AnneMarie) and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents, George Sr. and Jean Mossman; and brother, George Mossman Sr.
Visitation will be held Monday, July 25, 2011 at St. Paul's United Church, McAdam, NB from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral service will be at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at St. Paul's United Church followed by burial at Rockland Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, NB Heart & Stroke Foundations, McAdam Train Station Restoration or charity of the donor's choice.
