LONG, GARY R. - 69, of McKees Mills, with his loving family at his side, passed away peacefully at the Dr. Georges L. Dumont University Hospital Centre on Saturday, July 23, 2011. Born in Saint John, he was the son of the late Francis and Vera (Desjardins) Long. Gary was a retired paper maker with Irving Tissue, Saint John with 37 years service and was a member of McKees Mills Baptist Church. He was an avid outdoors man, who enjoyed canoeing, hunting, snow shoeing and doing yard work. He enjoyed playing the fiddle and photography; he was a dog lover and enjoyed socializing with his friends and spending precious time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Gary will be sadly missed by his wife of 42 years, Donna (Hicks) Long; precious sons, Michael (Liz), of Saint John, Mark (Jean), of Iroquois Falls, ON; cherished grandchildren, Tess, Maddie, Sophie, Dominic and Timothy; special four legged companion, “Caley” ; sisters-in-law, Peggy Farrow (Dave) of McKees Mills, Joanne Wilson (Townsend) of Halifax, NS; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995), Tuesday from 5 to 8 pm. Funeral Service, Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home Chapel, Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at 11:00 am with Dr. Ralph Richardson officiating.
