SILZER - Emelia (Koenig), of Swift Current, Saskatchewan (formerly of Glen Bain and Gravelbourg district) passed away peacefully with family at her side on July 9, 2011 at the Cypress Regional Hospital in Swift Current at the age of 90. Millie was born on April 10, 1921 at Cogeolac, Romania. At the age of 7 her family immigrated to Canada, came by train to Saskatchewan and settled in the St. Boswells District. On December 30, 1939 she married John Silzer and lived on a farm in the Glen Bain area, where they raised three children, Leverne, Wilmer and Rosalie. They continued to farm until 1975 when they moved into Gravelbourg. In May 1983 her husband John passed away and she continued to live in Gravelbourg until 2000. She then moved to Swift Current to the Prairie View Lodge where she lived right up until her passing. Millie was predeceased by her parents (Christian and Rosina Koenig), her husband (John Silzer), her son (Wilmer Silzer) and her great grandson (Brayden Kornfeld). Millie is survived by her son Leverne (Fay) Silzer and their children: Lisa (Steve) Riley, Chandi and Ty Kornfeld; Trevor (Leanne) Jaelyn, Landyn, Jaxyn and Ethyn Silzer, and Sherri Silzer (Corey) Anthony, Ayden and Tyler Lamarre, her daughter-in-law Connie Silzer and their children: Kevin (Jackie) Shelby and Lane Silzer and Jason (Sandi) Rylan and Brenna Silzer, her daughter Rosalie (Dan) Bender and their children: Karianne (Dale) Lyndon, Kellen and Jamison Ross and Evan (Tara) and Kaylee Bender. Also survived by three sisters, Mary Byrnes, Pauline Bogstie and Victoria Sanders and one brother John (Drinda) Koenig and numerous nieces and nephews. Also will be missed by close friends of the Swift Current, Glen Bain and Gravelbourg area. The Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 13, 2011 at the St. Boswells Trinity Lutheran Church at 11:00 am. Interment to follow at the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. Lunch will be served at the Gravelbourg Lions Den after the burial. Memorial donations graciously accepted for the Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery Fund. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Piche-Hawkins-Grondin Funeral Chapels, Assiniboia & Gravelbourg.
