SALTER, Patricia “Pat” Jean — 64, of Union Corner, Hants County, passed away Monday, July 11, 2011, at the Hants Community Hospital, Windsor. Born on December 16, 1946, in Windsor, Hants County, Nova Scotia, she was the daughter of Jean (Struthers) Lake, Dykeland Lodge, Windsor, and the late Walter Arthur Lake. Pat is best known for her work as a short order cook on the fish and chip wagons, where she made the best fish and chips around. She worked looking after children, in the canteen at the rink, and at the A&W among other places. She was a member of the Hants County Branch No. 009, Royal Canadian Legion, Windsor, for many years. Pat enjoyed watching Coronation Street and Dog the Bounty Hunter. She was really proud when Andrew asked her to go with him to see the band KISS perform. She was a Montreal Canadians hockey fan. Pat had fun playing with their dogs, “Dora” and “Carlee”, and thought they should visit her in the hospital. She spent her last day with her family around her telling wonderful stories. When the family left, she passed away as she wanted to, alone with her son, Andrew. Pat was a wonderful daughter, mother, sister, aunt and friend, who will be missed by all of us. She is survived by her only son, Andrew (Pam Sherman), Union Corner; sisters, Kathy (Rick) MacLeod, Falmouth; Kelly, Ontario; brother, Graham (Mary Lou) Lake, Newport Station. Pat will also be missed by all her nieces and nephews, Jennifer, Nicole (John), Kristy (Peter), Michelle, Deanna, Chelsey, Megan, Mackenzie, Keegan, Anika, Ben, Mya, Eli, and her special “ray of sunshine”, Allie. Besides her father, Walter Arthur Lake (1971); she was predeceased by her husband, C. Vincent Salter (1997); and a brother, Robert “Bobby” Lake (1973). Cremation has taken place. Visitation was held from 7-9 p.m. Thursday, July 14, in Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home, 194 King Street, Windsor. A public graveside service was held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 15, 2011, at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Parish Cemetery, Wiley Ave., Windsor. Rev. Father Michael J. Walsh officiated. A reception followed the service at the Royal Canadian Legion Building, 40 Empire Lane, Windsor. To add your condolence online, click on the Sign Guest Book icon at www.lindsaysfuneralhome.com.
