Amherst - Clara St.Peter, 69, of Salem, and formerly of Amherst,Passed away on Wednesday, September 23, 2009, at the Cumberland Regional Health Centre in Upper Nappan, NS.
Born in Minto, NB, she was a daughter of the late Lucien and Rita (Gallant) Gautreau.
Clara was a member of the former Nativity of Our Lady Parish, where she served with the CWL, and choir. Later, she attended St Thomas Aquinas Parish in Joggins, where she dedicated her time and talents with the River Hebert and Joggins church choir. Clara enjoyed her membership and travelling with the Glory Land Gospel Singers.
She was employed at Oxford Frozen Foods, until she retired in 2003.
Clara will be sadly missed by her loving husband, Joseph; her four sons; James (Carolyn), Paul (Bev), and Randy all of Amherst; Trevor (Esther) of Morrisburg, Ontario; as well as her three daughters, Barbara McCallum of Halifax, NS; Alison McLellan of Kamloops, BC; and Bonnie (Jason) Johns of Amherst; her sisters, Irene (Fred) Hebert ,Vila (Jack) Murphy, Jean Murphy all of Joggins, BettyAnn O'Regan, Leanore MacEachern and Elsie VanSnick all of Amherst; brother Benny (Marilyn) Gautreau of Tyndle Rd., Amherst, sister in law Bernice Gautreau of Amherst; 16 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides her parents, Clara was predeceased by a brother Ernest; sister, Alice LeBlanc, brothers Louis and Jerry in infancy, and grandson Glen Arthur St.Peter. Her remains are resting at Campbell's Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst (667-9906) with visiting on Friday, September 25, 2009 from 2:00 - 4:00 and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. with parish prayers at 8:00 p.m. The funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. from St. Thomas Aquinas Roman Catholic Church, Joggins with Father David MacDonald officiating. Reception to follow. Interment will take place in the St. Charles-Nativity Cemetery, Amherst.
