Angus James MacDonald, age 67, of Woodland, Calif. and formerly of New Waterford, died suddenly while vacationing in Cape Breton on Tuesday, July 26, 2011, with his loving wife and best friend, Carol by his side. Jim passed away at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in New Waterford, Jim was the son of Florence (MacIsaac) MacDonald and the late Daniel MacDonald.
Jim immigrated to the United States in 1963 where he met and married his wife of 44 years, Carol (Attebery) MacDonald in 1966.
He was employed at the University of California at Davis, as the supervisor of the maintenance department.
Jim loved woodworking and restoring furniture for his family. He was an avid gardener. But mostly, Jim was a loving and compassionate family man.
Besides his wife, Carol and his mother, Florence, Jim is survived by his two sons, Michael (Heidi), Matthew (Angela), both in Woodland, Calif.; three brothers, Danny, Surrey, B.C., Johnnie (Patricia), Baddeck, David, Sydney; and three sisters, Annette, Marion, New Waterford, and Dianne Caveliere, Kitchener, Ont. Also surviving are Jim’s two grandchildren, Andon and Peyton MacDonald, Woodland, Calif.; numerous, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Jim was predeceased by his father, Daniel.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford.
A reception to celebrate Jim’s life will be held at St. Leonard’s hall, Convent Street, New Waterford, Friday at 2 p.m. All are welcome.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Jim’s honour may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
