BABIN, Roderick Anthony – 70, Sluice Point, passed away at home on July 23, 2011. Born in Sluice Point, he was a son of Anthony Babin and the late Beatrice (Amiro) Babin. Roderick retired two years ago after working 25 years at Carl’s Store in Tusket. He enjoyed cutting wood, and listening to CIFA. He was extremely proud of the song he had written, “La Pointe des Carino”. He was also very proud of his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Betty (Surette) Babin, Sluice Point; son, Richard (Laurie) Babin, Amirault’s Hill; his father, Anthony Babin, Sluice Point; grandson Ben Babin; sisters, Ella Muise, Eel Brook; Bertha Brennan, Summerville; Marilynn d’Entremont, Pubnico; brothers, Ray, Tusket; Earl (Marcella), Sluice Point; Walter (Gloria), Sluice Point; step-mother, Marjorie Babin. He was predeceased by his sisters, Alice Surette, and Donna Babin. Funeral arrangements were under the care and direction of H. M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, 29 Albert Street, Yarmouth, where visitation was held, Monday from 7-9 p.m., with prayers at 8:00. A funeral service was held in the funeral home chapel on Tuesday, July, 26 at 10 a.m., Father John MacPherson officiated. Interment followed in Holy Family Parish Cemetery, Amirault’s Hill. It was requested that there be family flowers only. Donations in Roderick’s memory may be made to the Yarmouth Hospital Foundation.
