HAZELTON, Hugh Everette Roy – 84, of Lakeside Road, Yarmouth Co., passed away at home on July 25, 2011. Born April 16, 1927, in Yarmouth, he was a son of the late William and Genieva (Moses) Hazelton. First and foremost, he was a wonderful husband and father. Hugh worked hard all his life, starting at twelve years old, operating a jack hammer in the silica mines in Chegoggin. He was an employee of CN Rail and later CN Marine where he worked for twenty eight years, retiring from the MV Bluenose in 1988 as an engineer. Hugh was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved the outdoors. He also loved a good " yarn" , especially if he was the story teller ,whether it be about his hunting trips, or a story about one of the labs he raised and trained. He will be sadly missed and never forgotten by daughters, Linda (Kenneth) Doucette, Yarmouth; Marlene Hazelton (John Lambert), Barrie, Ont.; son, Ronald Hazelton (Rosalie Muise), Yarmouth; brothers, Donald Hazelton, Burlington, Ont.; Malcolm “Mack” (Anita) Hazelton, Hamilton, Ont.; sisters, Seretha Fevens, Overton; Lennie Nickerson, Brooklyn; Lillian O’Connell, Yarmouth; grandchildren, Gilbert Doucette, Michael Lambert, Nicholas Lambert and Adam Hazelton; two great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by wife, Betty; son, Hugh Alan; brother, Murray, William, Walter and Bruce; sisters, Joyce Goodwin, Irene Tedford and Violet Harris. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Sweeny’s Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Yarmouth. Visitation took place Thursday, July 28 from 7-9 p.m. at Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel. A memorial service was held Friday, July 29 at 2 p.m. from Temple Baptist Church, Pastor Robert MacCormack officiated. Interment followed in Pleasant Valley Cemetery. Donations in memory may be made to Victorian Order of Nurses (Tri-County Branch), Yarmouth Life Skills or to the HOPE Center in Yarmouth.
