The death occurred peacefully and surrounded by her loving family at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, P.E.I. on Thursday, July 28, 2011 of Gwen Macdonald (nee McCarron) of Summerside, aged 71 years. Gwen was born on Oct. 3, 1939 in Montague, P.E.I. to her late parents Peter and Isabel (nee Bears) McCarron. Special friend of Robert "Bob" Cummings of Summerside and loving mother of Sheryl (Greg) Simmons of Wilmot Valley and Wade (Laura) of Summerside and step-mother of Karen Chaisson of Waverly, N.S. and Sandra (Claude) Marcotte of Kingston, N.S. Also lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Arika (Tim), Amanda, Nick, Mikayla, Meaghan, Ashley-Anne, Cory, Ben and Sarah, her great-grandchild Libby and several nieces and nephews. Survived by her brother Donald (Linda) of Halifax, N.S. Besides her parents, Gwen was predeceased by brothers Wendell and Garry, sister Ethel, son-in-law Derrick and step-son Wayne. Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside until Monday, Aug. 1 for a funeral service in the funeral home chapel at 11 a.m. Interment to take place in St. Mary's Roman Catholic Cemetery, Montague at 4 p.m. Memorial donations in Gwen's memory to Community Connections or the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated.
