JENSEN, PERCY P. - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Percy Peter Jensen at 85 years of age, of Lake Edward, at Hotel Dieu of St. Joseph Hospital, Perth-Andover on July 30, 2011, with his wife of 64 years and some of his children at his side. He lived the past nine years at Tobique Valley Manor, Plaster Rock. Percy was a potato farmer in Lake Edward most of his life. He built up a successful potato farm and won many awards until illness forced him into early retirement. He is survived by his wife, the former Sadie Hitchcock; seven daughters, Dianna Chase (Austin), of Fredericton, Donna Hoyte (Bob), of Virginia, USA, Leueen Accettola (Bob), of Toronto, Althea Simpson (Bob), of Plaster Rock, Lenore Jensen, of Grand Falls, Vicki Paul (Joe) and Pamela Xerri (Mike), of Toronto; one son, Lyle (Monique), of Lake Edward; 26 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; four sisters; and one brother; Mildred Rogers (late Gerald), of Bristol, Irene Sorensen (Eric), of Presque Isle, Maine, Helen Rogers (late David), of Juniper, Reynald Jensen (Bonnie), of New Denmark and Phyllis Deschene (Doug), of Presque Isle; as well as by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sons, Leslie and Malcolm; one daughter, Melony; one brother at a young age, Reynald.
Resting at O’Regan’s Funeral Home, 515 Everard Daigle Boulevard, Grand Falls. Visiting hours will be Tuesday from 7 to 9 pm at the funeral home, and Wednesday from 1 to 2 pm at the church. His funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 3 at 2 pm from St. Ansgar’s Anglican Church, New Denmark with Rev. Robert LeBlanc officiating, assisted by Pastor David Knudson of the Lutheran Church. Interment will follow in the adjoining cemetery. For those who wish, donations to the Tobique Valley Manor would be appreciated by the family.
A special thank you to Dr. Litz and the staff of Tobique Valley Manor of Plaster Rock, and the doctors and nurses of Hotel Dieu Hospital of Perth-Andover. The care and compassion was always excellent and very much appreciated.
