
Madonna Jean King (nee Abbott)
Passed on: July 31st, 2011
(April 6, 1951 to July 31, 2011) Passed away, with quiet dignity, surrounded by her loving family, at the Dr. Leonard A. Miller Centre, Palliative Care Unit on July 31, 2011, following a courageous 11 year battle with cancer. Predeceased by her mother Elizabeth (Betty) Abbott. Leaving to celebrate and cherish her are: Husband Reg, son Jason (Krista) and precious grandson Alexander, daughter Krista, father Cyril, mother-in-law Phyllis, brothers and sister Marie, Cyril, Roger (Heather), and Shawn (Gigi); also her nieces, nephews, and a large circle of family and friends, especially her dear friend Margaret. Madonna fought and won many battles in her 11 year struggle, and had the strength and character to do so with honour and integrity in the face of monumental hurdles. Special thanks are extended to Dr. Kara Laing and the caring professionals at the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Clinic, as well as the doctors and staff of the L. A. Miller Centre. At her request cremation has taken place, and she is currently resting at Barrett’s Funeral Home on Commonwealth Avenue, Mount Pearl. Visitation on Monday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. and on Tuesday from 10 a.m. – 12 noon. Funeral service to be held at Barrett’s Mount Pearl Chapel at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, August 2, 2011, with the interment to follow in Harry’s Harbour, Green Bay at a later date.
