They built Cropp Motors garage in Mossbank, but they preferred their farm life so sold the business and raised award winning Polled Herefords and grain. In 1976 they retired into Moose Jaw. While growing up Jean always wanted to become a nurse and became the family caregiver. She helped nurse her grandparents, husband, children, grandchildren and other family as well. During WWII, Mother worked at the Assiniboia Air Base. Jean was a hockey and ball Mom and substitute coach at times. She served on the Mossbank Continuing Education Board, and also helped at the Mossbank Legion with meals and family functions. She was active during elections by volunteering as a scrutineener, later working as a Poll Clerk, and a D.R.O. Jean gave rides to older people who wanted to go to church and to people who wanted to vote. She enjoyed curling, bowling, the Moose Jaw Camper's Club and Aquafit at the pool. Mother volunteered at X.Y.Z which she later joined and then became a member at Timothy Gardens. A former T.O.Ps Princess she also belonged to Weight Wise and the Moose Jaw Widows and Widowers' Support Group. For 28 years Mom belonged to the Mitzpah Chapter of Eastern Star.
