RICHARDSON, Vera Ruth, 101, widow of the late Leland Richardson of Sable River died Sunday, July 31st, 2011 at home in Sable River. Born in Birchtown, she was the daughter of the late Isaac and Julia (Gregory) Acker. She graduated from Normal College in Truro and taught in a number of country schools until she was married. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She is survived by her children, daughter Carol “Callie” Richardson, Sable River, Virginia “Ginny” Page, Dartmouth, son Sheldon (Connie) Richardson, Western Shore, two grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, her sister Jeanette, Ontario and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brother Purney Acker, sisters Agatha Carangelo and Edna Acker. Visitation will be from 7-9 P.M. on Wednesday, August 3rd at H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Shelburne. The Funeral Service will be held at 2 P.M Thursday August 4th from the Sable River United Baptist Church with Rev. Tim Johnson officiating. Burial will take place in the Hillside Cemetery, Sable River. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to VON, Homecare, Sable River United Baptist Church or to a charity of choice.
